openSUSE File Manager

Is it a common occurrence for a file manager to take a very long time to load when selecting a folder that has a large amount of files within it? Say 50,000 jpg's? Is there a way to cut down the load time significantly?

  • It can be. Especially if you are processing 50,000 thumbnails!

50,000 files in one folder is a lot! Sub folders are your friend here.

making sure you are using some sort of list view instead of a thumbnail view will help.

a commandline filemanager like mc (midnight commander) might also be faster.
