Hi, my name is Ade and I've been using various Linux distros for about the last 4 years. It really all started when I wanted to have a go at general PC maintenance to learn how computers worked and how they're built. During this time I have learned how to repair and build a computer and am comfortable using any OS whether Linux, Windows, or Mac.
The first flavour of Linux that I tried was Puppy Linux, version 4.2 which I absolutely loved and used for ages. Then came Puppy 4.12, 4.3 and 4.31, and then the Ubuntu based series which kept me going until I built by current PC. I still use Puppy today where possible and currently have running the 64bit version Fatdog64 on a flash drive - it is so simple and easy to use yet very feature rich. I've tried many other flavours of Linux but none have lasted that long on any computer due to bugs, incompatibility issues, or just plain dislike of the OS itself. Windows XP and then 7 was always lurking on another household computer!
Unfortunately I've not been able to ditch Windows 7 as I need compatibility with several business applications and the need to run Adobe CS6. W7 is fine to use so I don't mind too much but it would be good to leave MS behind entirely.
Recently I have struggled to find a Linux distro compatible with my current hardware and have only just discovered that Elementary "Luna" OS works really well and is very fast. All in all a very nice OS!
Thanks for reading and it's good to find the forum.
