Hi everyone!

Hi. My name is Gaz, and even though I'm new to this community I have been using Linux since 2003. I was (like others) clinging onto Windows until I managed to get most of my apps working through Wine or Virtualbox. My Windows nightmare ended sometime ago in 2011.

My PC journey probably all started when I became the proud owner of a Commodore Amiga 500 in the late 80s. The journey then continued to Amiga A1200, Sun Microsystems 386, Windows 3.1 to 8, and Mac OSX 7 to 10.

I have managed to persuade some of the family to make the leap to Linux too and they really like it.

My current project/headache is to get a stable LinuxOS working on an old Dell XPS 630i, but only Knoppix boots so far.... :-/

Welcome Gaz to the Linux Distro Community. Yep loved the Amiga back in the day.
  • Hey there, Welcome nakanut! You sure got some history with computers. I'm a pretty young fella here in the community, I'm only age 14 and use Ubuntu, Linux Mint, and Linux Lite. Not even the Tech/IT guy at my high school knows what Ubuntu or Linux Mint is! That I find hilarious!

I am also a bit clumsy it seems. Yesterday the laptop slipped from my grasp and crashed onto the laminate floor!!!

The hard drive obviously broke. But everything else ok. Found a spare 2.5" drive in my box of spares

Now to spend hours installing apps/repositories/etc..

    ......arghh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :@:@:@:
